Full time Coordinator to be appointed soon
Local TD Fergus O’Dowd, has today met with the new Geiran “Drogheda Implementation Board” which is being chaired by Michael Keogh and hosted by the LMETB.
The Drogheda Implementation Board has been formed to drive the recommendations made by Vivian Geiran in his “Creating a Bridge to Better Future” report into Drogheda which was published earlier this year.
O’Dowd said “It is key that the Implementation Board hits the ground running in order to drive local projects and ensure that they are supported organisationally and financially through government supported schemes.
“It was confirmed that the board will be appointing a full time Coordinator imminently, this role will be key in linking the board with our local communities on the ground.
“In July the Government confirmed that they would prioritise funding applications for projects in the Drogheda area and surrounds that are supported through the Drogheda Implementation Plan, we must now ensure that the key recommendations of the report are addressed in a comprehensive and timely manner.
“I have also asked the Board to meet with the LCC Senior Executive Officer for Drogheda who was appointed to drive local projects and improvements in the area, I believe that there must be a dovetail relationship between both parties so the local authorities are fully aware and act on of what is required on the ground.
“I want to thank Chairperson Michael Keogh and Martin O’Brien for facilitating the meeting following my request and for agreeing to my proposal to meet with local TDs on a quarterly basis going forward, I look forward to working closely with the board on progressing the implementation plan.”
