The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service (BFRRS) is part and parcel of the Drogheda community. Its members are ready 24/7 to provide a vital service that everyone hopes will never be for them – Rescue and Recovery.
The service they provide comes at a cost though, both in terms of training and equipment, so fundraising is an ongoing activity for the volunteers.
They will be holding their annual door to door bucket collection from Friday 1st of October till Saturday the 30th of October between the times of 18.30hrs and 21.00hrs.
BFRRS members will be calling to every house / housing estate in Drogheda asking people to donate their spare change to help in the ‘CHANGE 4 LIFE ‘ campaign.
If you see the CHANGE 4 LIFE collection trailer in your area any day over the next few weeks, it will mean they are collecting in that area on that night and would be sincerely grateful if you could donate.
As a voluntary unit the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service provides fully trained emergency water rescue crews for any incidents that may occur along the river Boyne or surrounding water ways this includes underwater search teams nationwide.

In 2020 they responded to over 70 emergency call outs ranging from rescues, recoveries , preventions and various other calls. Throughout the pandemic they tailored their services to assist those in need with supplies ,services and general welfare.
“We depend highly on fundraising events such as this one, they are vital to keep the service running at such a high standard as we do not receive any state funding” said BFRRS spokesperson Jason Clarke.
“If you would like to donate towards the service we provide you can also donate via paypal on our website at www.Boynefishermensrescue.ie“
