The Spooks Parade returns to the streets of Drogheda

The Spooks Parade returned to the streets of Drogheda this weekend, courtesy of Droichead Arts Centre and Kieran Gallagher with his friends from Kada Kaboom Arts, as part of the Leanbh Children’s Festival.

Children from St. Brigid’s and St. Patrick’s National School worked with Kieran and choreographer Tracey Martin from Kidkast over the past few weeks to devise this ghoulish event.

They marched a short but spooky route through the town on Saturday last, October 30 Oct, from Barlow House to Lawrence’s Gate.

Kieran assembled a fantastic team of musicians for the event including Rob Welsh, Aoife Kavanagh, and Martina Farrell, as well as spookily brilliant make-up artist Kelly Kierans.

Big thanks are due to all the fantastic children who participated, and to the parents, and teachers, and the school, and the local Gardai who walked with the children on the day.

Droichead and Kada Kaboom Arts plan to grow and develop the parade for Leanbh in 2022, and hope to work with more schools.

Leanbh Children’s Festival is produced by Droichead Arts Centre, and is sponsored by Flogas Ireland, with funding from the Arts Council of Ireland, Creative Ireland, Create Louth, Meath Council Arts Office, and Louth County Council Arts Office.
