Music, dance and prizes to be won at the start of the Christmas celebrations
The much-anticipated return of the switching on of the Christmas lights will take place on Friday, November 19th at 6:30pm on the steps of St. Peter’s Church in West Street.
For what is traditionally the start of the Christmas celebrations in Drogheda the Love Drogheda BID team have come together to present an afternoon of festive family fun with balloon modellers and entertainment from a host of wonderful local artists from 4:30 to 6:30pm which includes the fantastic ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ Prize Draw.
Niall Kierans, Chairperson of Love Drogheda said, “We are extremely excited to bring back the celebration of lights to the town which has been a longstanding family event in the community.”
“And this year the lights are going to be bigger and better than ever thanks to the support and funding from many of our local business owners in the town.” Added Trevor Connolly, Chief Executive of Love Drogheda.
The event itself will be presented by M.C. Kelly Kierans who will introduce acts such as Kelley McArdle, who will be singing her new single ‘Golden Angel’ as well as performances from Loving Life Choir, KidKast, Aisling Nally Dance Company and Megan Butterly.
A fantastic free draw will take place and some very lucky locals will win fabulous prizes donated by local businesses such as a €500 Family membership Voucher for Integral Gyms, a €100 Scotch Hall voucher, a family pass to Aladdin the Pantomime in the TLT, tickets to Jason Byrne in the Barbican, Theatre Tickets to the Droichead Arts Centre and much more!
For everyone’s enjoyment and safety, there will be Covid guidelines in effect at the event. If you would like to know more or get involved and volunteer at the Christmas Lights celebration, please follow Love Drogheda on social media and see local press for details and updates.
This event will only proceed providing no Government restrictions are implemented.
