A Drogheda businesswoman is encouraging local employers to support the town by choosing the Drogheda Gift Card for their employee rewards and incentives.
Launched in 2020, the Drogheda Gift Card can be used in over 170 businesses locally and over €110,000 worth of Drogheda Gift Cards have been sold since 2020.
Jackie Jolliffe, the owner of The Crafty Fox on Laurence Street, said when organisations use the Drogheda Gift Card for staff rewards and incentives, the whole town benefits.
“The Crafty Fox has been in business for over 10 years now and offers everything from top quality designer fabrics to budget friendly cottons and everything you need for a range of crafts, including sewing, quilting, knitting, felting, macramé and embroidery.
“We have a range of craft kits that make great Christmas gifts, and we also offer craft classes and workshops in everything from crochet and quilting to Christmas crafts and needle felting.
“During the pandemic people had more spare time and decided to try their hand at crafting. Our online shop helped them to get the supplies they needed but people missed the social aspect, and the advice they receive in the shop. Since we reopened, our classes and workshops have been really popular.
“It has long been understood that craft is good for mindfulness, because you are in the moment and concentrating on what you are doing. With all the stress and anxiety that has come out of the pandemic, people have a new appreciation for the wellbeing benefits of crafting. As trends like knitting come back into fashion, younger people are getting more into crafting too.
“As soon as I heard about the Drogheda Gift Card I thought it was a brilliant idea for keeping money in the locality. It’s an excellent scheme for businesses to be a part of because there are no costs involved. When organisations support the Drogheda Gift Card for staff rewards and incentives, they are supporting the town. The better the town looks, and the more vibrant businesses we have, the more attractive the area becomes, and that is beneficial to everyone that lives, works and operates in Drogheda.
“I use the Drogheda Gift Card for rewards for my own staff because they can spend it across the whole town. We should all be looking at keeping business local and supporting each other through our local gift card.”
The Drogheda Gift Card offers an easy way for employers to reward their staff and the Irish small benefit exemption scheme enables organisations to give staff a tax-free non cash reward of up to €500. Gift cards make sense for employers but local gift cards that support local businesses make even more sense.”
Trevor Connolly of Love Drogheda Business Improvement District added, “Now is the time to put the green jersey on and shop and support local businesses in Drogheda.
“The Love Drogheda Gift Card gives users the opportunity to support local employment in over 170 participating stores with a huge variety of choice and experiences guaranteed for users of the Gift Card.
“When you use a Love Drogheda Gift Card every cent spent in store goes to the business, some national cards charge up to 10% per transaction. There is zero commission charged to the retailer, thus this will help to keep our town vibrant.
“This is a huge opportunity to show your support for your town and make the local choice”
