Drogheda student’s heron picture chosen for Texaco Calendar

‘Heron On The River Boyne’ will be seen in thousands of homes during the coming year

A picture by 16-year old Drogheda student James Moonan from The Arthouse, has been chosen from thousands of entries nationwide to be included in the 2022 Texaco Children’s Art Competition Calendar which has just been published.

One of 13 images selected to illustrate the calendar, James’s piece, entitled ‘Heron On The River Boyne’, will appear during the month of February and will be seen in thousands of homes throughout Ireland during the coming year.

Winning first prize in Category G of the 2021 competition, ‘Heron on the River Boyne’ was one of a number said by a competition adjudicator to illustrate perfectly the outstanding talent, creativity and imagination that many of our young artists possess and the important role schools have in encouraging and inspiring their students through art education.

James is no stranger to the Competition, he won first prize in the same category in 2020 and 2019, second prize in 2018 and a Special Merit Award in 2017.

Calendars are currently available through a select number of Texaco service stations and Texaco branded distributors countrywide and through Texoil, Valero’s own home heating oil division.
