The good, some would say great, people at the Boomerang Youth Club and Café have been in touch to tell us (and you) what they’re up to these days. It seems they are really busy but having the craic also.
The really exciting news is that the Basement Sounds crew are launching a new studio and rehearsal space on Friday 25th February. They’ve already produced a promo video featuring 14 year-old singer Marley Peig who has an absolutely gorgeous voice. (see video below).
Having been awarded the AWS In Communities Drogheda Fund, they have built a custom made sound booth in the basement equipped with soundproof panels, Aston Microphones (Spirit and Origin) AKG C451 microphones.
They also have a brand new iMac running Logic X, Ableton and a studio workstation kitted out with Focusrite 18i20 interface, Arturia Keystep 37, Adam Audio T8V monitors.
This is available to all performers/singers/musicians aged 12-18, who would like to record their own material and explore recording techniques in a creative environment. Musicians and performers of all levels are welcome and the Basement Sounds team at Boomerang Youth Cafe will be on hand to aid you in the recording process!
Also, if you have an interest in music production, sound design and recording techniques this is the space for you.
There is also a stage area set up for rehearsals, with fully functioning PA and wide array of instruments available!

Also happening in Boomerang starting Tuesday the 22nd February you can take part in a self-defence class from 10am-4pm. If that doesn’t float your boat you can make your very own stop motion movie with sound effects on Wednesday the 23rd from 10am-4pm.
Thursday and Friday will see the start off the taste buds cooking group for all you young Foodies out there also starting at 10am- 2pm.These groups are for young people aged 13+
