Bagfull returns to Sarsfields with a cracking night of music

The popular Bagfull of Songs makes a welcome return to Sarsfields Lounge this Friday, July 8th, and is set to be a night not to be missed. Organiser, Tom Anderson, has planned a cracking night of music, covering a multitude of genres and styles, with something for everyone.

Kicking off the night at 9.30 sharp, local covers band, The Coprolites, make a rare live appearance to deliver a plethora of 90’s grunge, alternative and punk rock hits.

The Coprolites, which includes members of Drogheda originals band The Keds, was formed as a side project a few years ago in tribute to the bands that inspired them growing up, and as singer Keith Smith explained, “We try to stick to covering songs from the 1990s otherwise we’d never agree on a setlist! –

“That period in our lives was sort of a golden time for us growing up, going to Cellars Bar and Man Fridays with our friends and learning our instruments. It was also an incredible time for music with the explosion of grunge and so many genre defining albums being released by the biggest bands on the planet at the time. Really nothing has come close to it since.”

He adds “It’s a real trip down memory lane when we get together after all these years and play some of these songs that inspired us, to a very knowledgeable and supportive crowd that is always a feature of the Bagfull “

No strangers to the local and national live scene over the last two decades or so, the lads only get together once in a while when all four members are in town and the timing is right.

Expect to hear both hits and lesser known fan favourites from the likes of: Stone Temple Pilots, Supergrass, Ash, Primal Scream, Hole, Rancid, Weezer, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Blink 182, Green Day and more.

Next to take the stage will be young singer/songwriter Tadhg lynch, playing for the first time at the Bagfull, this talented musician will send shivers down your spine as he belts out the tunes.

Closing the show, the Tom Anderson band will keep you on your feet, with the main man himself along with band members Gav Mcdonnell, Ken brown, Frank Madden and Barry Molloy, entertaining you with classics from Led Zeppelin to Neil Young to Cream and everything in between!

Please be aware that doors open at 9pm and The Coprolites have an early start at 9.30pm so get down early to get a seat… not that you’ll need it as you will probably be on your feet dancing the whole night!
