Drogheda Gardaí are this morning carrying out an investigation into the cause of a fire at the Anglo Printers plant at Mell which broke out at around 8.00 pm last night.
The MD of Anglo Printers, Padraic Kierans, who has brought the family business to new levels in recent years, took to Twitter last night to condemn the perpetrators of what he says was an arson attack.
Fire Service personnel were on the scene of the fire for several hours and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the main part of the building but there was some smoke damage caused to an office area.
Gardaí have confirmed that they are carrying out an arson investigation and the scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
Praising the work of the Fire Service Mr. Kierans says that the factory at Mell came within minutes of total destruction.
He said that those responsible for this attack had not only caused damage to the factory but had endangered the lives and threatened the livelihoods of 50 people.
