Boyne AC seniors run East of Ireland 20 mile race ahead of Dublin Marathon

With the Dublin City Marathon fast approaching, several of Boyne AC’s senior members travelled to Lusk at the weekend to take on the East of Ireland 20 mile race, their last ‘long’ run before the big day.

The tough 10k looped course, complete with a steep hill on every lap, made for a great training run for the 13 Boyne athletes taking part.

First home for the club, Timi Oluwabowale ran a super time of 2.41.55, looking comfortable and ready for more as he crossed the finish line, while Mark Dowling ran a controlled race to finish strong in a time of 2.46.41.

Rob Fitzgerald was next to the finish line in 2.49.11, as he gears himself up for the full 26.2 miles at the end of the month, while also making his marathon debut soon, Keith Smyth finished just behind in 2.51.00.

Rachel Williams was the first female across the line for the club, in a super time of 2.51.26, proving her hard work over recent months is certainly paying off, while clubmate Rebecca Carolan finished in 2.54.24.

Nicola Veale and Louise Fagan kept each other company over the tough 32k distance, crossing the finish line in 2.56.55.

In his debut run over the distance, Colin Condon finished in a super time of 3.05.27, delighted with his run as he builds nicely for the marathon, while teammate Ola Raji crossed the line in 3.19.26.

Maria Riordan looked relaxed and happy with her run as she finished in 3.34.42, while training partners Jean Marie Nawn and Eimear RIckard were all smiles as they clocked in at 3.40.57.

With just over a week until marathon day and the training now complete, Boyne AC would like to wish all those taking part the very best of luck!
