Deputy Fergus O’Dowd has welcomed an update he has received from the HSE in which they state that the new state of the art St Marys community nursing unit on the Dublin Road will be operational by the third quarter of 2023.
“This is really positive news for Drogheda,” O’Dowd said, “the additional beds will greatly assist in the care of older people in our town.
“This €10m project is due to be completed in Q2 and it is hoped that the first intake of residents will take place into Q3.
“Ensuring we have ample beds to allow residents remain close to their loved ones in Drogheda is vitally important.
“I’m also delighted that we will also see employment opportunities as a result of the unit opening which is always very welcome.”
The new unit at St. Mary’s Hospital on the Dublin Road comprises 30 beds and will bring the total number of HIQA registerd beds atthe faciity to 60.
