From Raft Race to All-Ireland Championships: Inver Colpa Caps Off a Winning Summer

Drogheda’s Inver Colpa Rowing Club is ready to compete at the All-Ireland Championships this weekend, capping off a busy and highly successful summer on the water and in the community.

The club’s season was filled with a series of high-profile events, including the popular Drogheda Raft Race, which raised much-needed funds for both the rowing club and the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue & Recovery Service.

A significant focus this summer has been fundraising for their new boathouse on the River Boyne. The club is nearing its €60,000 target to begin construction on a permanent home after nearly a decade of operating from containers. Key fundraising drives included a roadside billboard campaign sponsored by Mosney Village and a challenging Rowathon in Scotch Hall Shopping Centre.

The training and fundraising efforts have clearly paid off. Inver Colpa crews have been in top form, winning an impressive haul of medals at three regattas on the Antrim coast:

  • Cushendun Regatta: Gold for the ladies’ team and silver for the mixed team.

  • Castle Regatta: Bronze for both the Veteran Ladies and Open Ladies, plus silver for the Veteran Mixed team.

  • Whitehead Regatta: Gold for the Veteran Mixed team, silver for the Veteran Ladies and Open Ladies, and bronze for the Masters Mixed team.

Now, the club is back on the Antrim coastline for the All-Ireland Championships in Glenarm from August 15th to 17th, hoping to bring even more medals back home to Drogheda.

The club extended its thanks to all members, volunteers, and sponsors—including Southgate Shopping Centre, KC Shipping, Flogas, Helpmypension.ie, and The Mariner—for their continued support.
