The Childcare Department in DIFE recently held a fundraising event in aid of the Children’s Ward in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. The event gave students the opportunity to give back to the local community and contribute to a very special cause.
The spirit of caring and love was epitomised by the staff and students Drogheda Institute of Further Education with staff and students dressed as their favourite Disney characters, working tirelessly to prepare a bake sale and multiple stands selling arts, crafts and other wares, with all proceeds being donated to this incredibly worthwhile cause.
In addition to this, students received sponsorship from individuals and businesses within the local community, receiving many donations and gaining items which were given out as spot prizes in the main event of the day, The Mega Raffle.
Presented by local comedian and impersonator Al Foran, the huge raffle involved over 50 spot prizes and concluded a great day for a great endeavour, raising €4,640 in total which will be used to provide additional services and supports to children receiving care in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and their families.
