This weekend, 14th/15th October, the Drogheda Cycling Group which campaigns for better facilities for cyclists and active travel generally, will be embarking on an eight hour fundraising cycle around Ireland’s largest town.
The group plans to leave St. Peter’s Church (West Street) at 8:00 on Saturday and finish at 16:00 and anyone interested in supporting them can join in at any point in their journey.
Chairperson Noel Hogan said:
“The Drogheda Cycling group continues to grow and develop – we have been organizing community cycles, engaging with stakeholders and developing our own plans to promote Active Travel in Drogheda for over two years.
“We are an entirely voluntary group and fundraising events like these are essential for our work to promote a better future for Ireland’s largest town”
Treasurer Daniel Danko said:
“For any other cycling groups or individuals who would like to join us for the entirety or just part of the route, please get in touch and we will agree on a meeting point/time. We will also be sharing a live tracker on the day, which will pinpoint our location if anyone would like to join at the last minute”.
“Our progress can be followed on Drogheda Cycling Group’s Instagram and Facebook pages throughout the day as we will be posting videos and photos to document our adventure”.
“Drogheda Cycling’s purpose is to campaign and promote cycling for all in the Drogheda area. We are open to everyone and advocate for access for all. We believe that cycling can help contribute to Drogheda becoming a healthier, safer and more sustainable community”.
“The cause can be supported financially via our GoFundMe page – all proceeds will be used to fund our campaign, cycling-related equipment and community activities”.
