Search and rescue personnel who have been searching for a fisherman whose boat sank in the Irish Sea off Dunany Point on Tuesday morning have this morning recovered a body.
The body was located and recovered by the Irish Navy dive team during a search of the sunken fishing vessel ‘Ben Thomas’.
The search operation began shortly before 9 am following a Mayday message to the Irish Coastguard Service.
The Clogherhead RNLI Lifeboat, Clogherhead, Greenore and Drogheda Coast Guard teams, and local fishing vessels have also been taking part in the search since Tuesday.
A second fisherman who was on board the Ben Thomas when she sank was rescued by the crew of a nearby boat who landed him at Port Oriel from where he was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
