Instructor opportunities in Louth and Meath as Apprenticeship Office launches recruitment campaign

The National Apprenticeship Office has launched a recruitment campaign for Apprenticeship Instructors with over 100 training and support staff to be recruited across the country by the network of Education and Training Boards (ETBs) over the next six months.

The recruitment campaign is the latest in a number of measures being put in place to target waiting lists in certain areas of phase 2 apprenticeship training. To support this provision and other expansion in the apprenticeship system, Government is planning to invest over €265m in funding in 2024.

The new apprenticeship instructor posts include a variety of flexible full-time and part-time training positions within the ETBs, focused primarily around increasing provision of phase 2 craft apprenticeship programmes across construction, electrical, engineering and the motor industry in response to really strong demand in these areas.

The National Apprenticeship Office’s jobs portal is hosting Apprenticeship Instructor job postings from ETBs across the country and can be found here: https://apprenticeship.ie/instructors/jobs

One of the key posts available for experienced tradespeople includes a permanent position for an Electrical Craft Instructor to train the next generation of electrical apprentices at the Regional Skills and Training Centre, Dundalk with the position closing in the early new year.

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris, T.D., said: “This national recruitment campaign for craft apprenticeship instructors is a really positive step in the right direction. This will see a significant increase in the number of trainers available at local level to ensure there is capacity to satisfy a growing demand for learning through apprenticeship.”

“To deliver the critical skills needs of our country we must come at it from all angles and this substantial increase in the national training provision through the dedicated Education and Training Board network will be an important step in doing just that.”

“I truly believe that the reform we are driving through apprentices is going to make a significant difference, making sure we have highly skilled workers across the nation ready to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.”

Dr Mary Liz Trant, Director of the National Apprenticeship Office said: “These instructor positions offer a fantastic opportunity for skilled tradespeople to take the next step in their careers, to share their knowledge and expertise with upcoming talented apprentices of all ages and backgrounds, not to mention the many benefits including flexible work-life balance, steady hours and competitive salary.”

“I encourage and call on qualified tradespeople of all backgrounds to visit apprenticeship.ie and consider the many opportunities available around the country.”
