1,000kms Team Challenge to raise funds for homeless charities

The Duleek based organisation, Helping Hands Helping Communities, are organising a 1,000kms Team Challenge event to raise funds for homeless charities.

They are asking volunteers to participate in one of the following three categories – 50kms walk, 50kms run or 100kms cycle.

The event will start on Sunday 25th September with volunteers completing a 125kms Camino walk in one week in Santiago Spain.

Other volunteers will begin their chosen categories on the same date and the event will end on Friday 21st October.

“Volunteers can complete the events in groups or on their own, whichever they prefer” said spokesperson Patrick Lynch.

“All proceeds will go towards purchasing supplies for the homeless. Donations will also be made to Duleek Senior Citizens and Drogheda Cares for the Homeless.

“Due to last year’s success we were in a position to support Drogheda Cares for the Homeless, Drogheda Women’s Refuge, SOSAD Ireland Drogheda, Duleek Senior Citizens, Stronger Together Ireland Helping Communities and Homeless Ireland Action Collective.

“We are looking volunteers to participate again this year. If interested contact myself by pm or 089-4833212. Sponsorship cards are available on request.

“Any local business interested in becoming a sponsor can contact us in the same way.”
