Drogheda Life is asking for your support for an appeal for Drogheda’s fabulous Moneymore Childcare Centre which has suddenly been hit with costs of almost €70,000 to renew their kitchen and other maintenance costs.
In the 14 years since it was established, the Moneymore Childcare Centre (MCC) has cared for thousands of young children from the surrounding neighbourhood and has earned a reputation second to none.
It provides many essential services in Moneymore and has earned its place right at the heart of the local community.
The Centre is a place where parents can leave their children and know they will be safe and cared for. It’s an all-day service and the children are provided with breakfast, a hot, home-cooked dinner and two snacks daily at no extra cost to the parents.
It is not possible to make the required changes without extending the kitchen but the problem is that they don't have the money.
Office Manager Gemma Wilton told Drogheda Life that they've been quoted up to €46,000 to build a completely new kitchen. On top of that the place could do with a lick of paint and they've been quoted €15,000 for that.
Another, smaller, issue is that the outdoor softplay area cannot be used until the rubber matting material is replaced which is going to cost another €8,000. So, all in all, they need to raise almost €70,000.
Please make a donation now or, if you can help in any way call Gemma or the Centre Manager Lisa Cleary on 041 9800 057.
Perhaps you are in business and can help with the costs or maybe tradespeople could do some work for free?
