Young man charged with murder of Cameron Reilly

Aaron Connolly being led from Drogheda District Court this morning after he was charged with the murder of Dunleer teenager Cameron Reilly on May 26th.

There were emotional scenes outside Drogheda Courthouse this morning as members of the two families involved waited to get a glimpse of Aaron Connolly the 18 year-old Dunleer man who was charged with the murder of Cameron Reilly.

The proceedings inside the court were brief.

Aaron Connolly (18) of Willistown, Drumcar, Co. Louth appeared before Judge John Coughlan at Drogheda District Court charged with the alleged murder of 18 year old Cameron O’Reilly at Shamrock Hill in Dunleer on May 26h 2018.

Connolly was arrested just after 6.00 am yesterday morning by Detective Sergeant Fearghal O’Toole who told the court that the accused was then brought to Drogheda Garda Station where he was charged and cautioned.

Connolly made no reply to Gardaí when charged.

Connolly only spoke once during the short hearing and that was to confirm to the judge that he was over 18.

Having been remanded in custody to appear again next Thursday via video link he was taken from the court via the back door to Drogheda Garda Station from where he was taken away in a Prison Service van.
