Walk and Talk down Fair Street and Bolton Street

The sixth Walk and Talk in the Old Drogheda Society's Summer Season takes place on Wednesday July 18th.

Liam Reilly will lead a walk from the corner of Fair Street and Bolton Street across Fair Street and William Street ending up in King Street.

Among the topics he will relate to are the shooting of Alice Slowley in 1922, the old Cornmarket, the Sword and Mace, the Sisters of Charity, Mallard Lane, the Presentation School.

He’ll also reveal all about the Catholic Action Hall, Harry Allen Builders, the Crilly School of Music and Pat Clarke's mysterious Lion above the back gate of Clarkes pub.

Eamonn Campbell of the Dubliners will get a mention as will the Mechanics Institute Church Lane's connection to Top of the Pops, Ken Whitaker, Harpur House, Paradise Place, the Tooting Tower and other interesting facts on the area.

Please assemble at 7.25 pm for departure at 7.30 m the walk should finish before 9 pm. 

There is no set charge for the Walk and Talk but donations will be accepted to the Old Drogheda Society. All welcome.
