Councillor Kevon Callan in front of disabled parking bays in Laurence Street.
Independent Councillor Kevin Callan who has successfully campaigned to have disabled parking spaces in Drogheda repainted, has said that the Council's Traffic Wardens should be seeking out and fining all those still misusing the bays when they are not eligible.
"Despite the efforts we have put into clearly marking out spaces, and this work is ongoing, people are choosing to continue to park where they do not have a permit to do so" Cllr. Callan said.
"We have over 100 spaces in the town centre area and in residential areas. To take up a space when you do not have the right is seriously impacting on someone who is in need of it.
"These spaces provide a much needed facility to those who need to park close to shops, chemists, post office and other services.

"I am in communication with the Council to see that enforcement is underway to send out a clear signal that to take up a space where there is no right, that this ends with a fine.
"I am also looking to get loading bays remarked and new signage up at locations such as Laurence's Street.
"When people take up these spaces and leave those delivering to the town, they are required to continue to loop around the town causing delays and congestion."
