Labour TD Ged Nash and his supporters celebrating his election this afternoon.
For the first time ever, the people of Drogheda and East Meath have three TD’s to represent them at Dail Éireann.
The news broke this afternoon after County Registrar Mareaid Aherne announced the result of the tenth Count of the election in Dundalk.
The final count was the result of the distribution of Green Party candidate Mark Dearey.
Dundalk Fianna Fail Declan Breathnach came a cropper with just 854 transfers leaving him on 9,625 votes which was not enough and he was eliminated.

The final count for each of the three successful candidates was as follows:
Ged Nash (Labour) on 11,659
Fergus O’Dowd (FG) – 11,282
Peter Fitzpatrick (Ind) – 10,779.
This of course follows on from the phenomenal performance of Sinn Fein in Louth who got two candidates, Imelda Munster and Ruairí Ó Murchú who both passes the 11,778 quota on the first count last night.
