The COVID-19 pandemic could have forced the cancellation of the Drogheda Motor Show 2020, but instead Drogheda Motor Dealers got creative. On Saturday night, they hosted a live two and a half hour chat show from the Droichead Arts Centre. The ever-popular Gerry Kelly met some famous faces and local characters, all of whom had a story to tell.
Thousands of people tuned in to the virtual chat show to enjoy music from Modern Love, Hannah O’Brien and Music at the Gate. They discovered how local shopkeepers are adapting to life after lockdown and heard all about future plans for our local team Drogheda United. Golfing legend Des Smyth was on the couch too and much more besides.
There was even an appearance from mentalist Keith Barry who talked motors and magic with Gerry. He had a few tricks up his sleeve too! It was a night to remember and a fantastic way to mark the special 10 year occasion. “
"We plan to return to Laurence Street again in 2021 for the 11th Drogheda Motor Show. In the meantime, we wanted to let the local public know that the Drogheda Motor Dealers are firmly open for business" said Alan Reynolds, Brian Reynolds Mazda & Fiat.

"This virtual chat show, we felt, was a great way to stay connected with our customers and at the same time give something back to the community. Gerry Kelly was absolutely the perfect host on the night and we’re so grateful to all the dedicated production team for their commitment and passion to deliver so wonderfully.”
Chris Hanlon, Managing Director at First Citizen Finance, was a guest on the evening and announced the launch date of a new platform for used car buyers called Autopoint.ie. The new website, which will launch in Drogheda this Wednesday 29th July, will allow Drogheda car buyers to see local cars from approved local motor dealers - in one place.
“Our business is about helping dealers sell more cars using finance as a tool. Where the Drogheda Motor Show allows the new car buying public to experience what the new car market has to offer, this new platform [Autopoint.ie] will make it easier for local people to connect with their next used car from their local dealer. It allows us to keep motoring local”.
The show was made possible with the support of First Citizen Finance, SIMI, Drogheda & District Chamber and Louth County Council. The show was produced by Karen Devine of WhiteLight Consulting.
Two charity partners will benefit from the event, Down Syndrome Ireland Louth Meath Branch and Malta Services Drogheda. Everyone who donates to the fundraising will automatically be entered into a draw to win a €250 Shop Local voucher. There’s still time to donate at www.BrandNewDrive.ie.
There are 11 local franchised motor dealers responsible for bringing this special event to the public, comprising of 17 car brands. These are Brian Reynolds Mazda & Fiat, Colm Quinn BMW & MINI, Jack Doran Motors (Kia & Citroen), Smiths of Drogheda (Ford), Windsor Drogheda Peugeot, Conachy’s Garage (Seat), Western Motors Drogheda (Volkswagen & Skoda), Malones Toyota Drogheda, Drogheda Car Sales (Hyundai & Suzuki), Blackstone Motors (Renault & Dacia) and McCabe Car Sales (Mitsubishi). The supporters of the virtual 10th Birthday Bash are First Citizen Finance, the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), Drogheda & District Chamber and Louth County Council.
