€8,000 worth of sports equipment to be won

News likely to appeal to Drogheda teachers and pupils looking to get the New Year off to a healthy start is the announcement from Fyffes that its search to find ‘Ireland’s fittest school 2025’ is now open for registration ahead of the January 20th start.

Running for 10 weeks, the top four schools from each province will then compete head-to-head across four live regional qualifier events in April, after which the top school from each will progress to May’s grand final at which the prize package will include €8,000 worth of sports equipment.

Schools can register online at www.fyffesfittestschool.ie

“We signed up for a visit from the Fyffes Fit Squad as part of our schools Active Flag Programme. It proved to be an extremely worthwhile experience for the students and staff who took part” said Fiona Mullen, a 6th Class Teacher at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal in Kilsaran, Co. Louth.

“It was very easy to register and organise. The personal trainer obviously had a lot of experience working with a large group of children. The children were actively engaged throughout and thoroughly enjoyed their workout.

“The exercises were easy to follow and simple for us as teachers to remember and implement during PE lessons. The fact that no equipment was necessary is a big bonus for us.

“The children were delighted to receive their bananas and reward from Fyffes after their session. We would have no hesitation in recommending the programme to other schools.”
