The Glyde Inn, Annagassan, is celebrating after winning the Irish Pub Awards Best Food Pub in the North East Region. The pub is no stranger to the awards, having won overall National Pub of the Year in 2018.

The Glyde Inn will now go forward to the national awards to be held in the Mansion House, Dublin on 16th November where it will hope to secure the Best Food Pub in Ireland crown.

Glyde Inn manger Conor O’Neill says the award is recognition for all the hard work put in by the pub’s dedicated staff.“We’re thrilled to receive this award” he said, “especially after a tough two years during the pandemic.

For the Glyde Inn to be recognised as the Best Food Pub in the North East is not only great news for us but also the area in general.

“I’d like to thank all our hard-working staff for helping us secure this award as we couldn’t have done it without them.

“I can’t wait for the national awards in November where we’ll be going up against the best food pubs from across Ireland.”

Now in its fourth year, the Irish Pub Awards, jointly presented by Licenced Vintners Association (LVA) and Vintners Federation of Ireland (VFI), are now acknowledged as the definitive industry standard and have gained recognition throughout the trade as the most credible and comprehensive assessment of the best in Irish Pubs.

All regional winners will be showcased as best in class in their region and will receive a prize package of management training to help them progress their business further.

The Irish Pub Awards has enjoyed substantial growth since its inception in 2017. President of the VFI, Paul Moynihan, says: “The Irish Pub Awards is firmly established as the pre-eminent awards in our sector. The awards have helped raise the national profile of our fantastic pubs across the entire country. The awards showcase the best of the best and I’m delighted that so many great venues are getting the recognition they deserve. We all know our pubs are a unique part of Irish culture and remain the best place for locals and tourists alike to come together.”
