St. Patrick’s week in the Drogheda Area

A family enjoying a boat trip with Boyne Boats on the Boyne canal at Oldbridge. Hopefully the weather will improve soon so that boating and all other outdoor pursuits can start up again..

Saint Patrick’s Day is on Sunday so that means a long weekend ahead and there’s plenty for everyone to do both in Drogheda and the surrounding area. There’s music and dance and theatre, boats on the river and of course parades and green pints. Well, maybe not the green pints!

Wednesday March 13th

Lenten Lunches – In aid of Drogheda Homeless Aid in St Peter’s Church of Ireland Hall, Peter Street 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm.

School Stars Final – Guest judge Jake Carter for the final of this schools talent competition in the TLT Theatre 7.30 pm.

Thursday March 14th

Gospel Concert – Students from Texas and Drogheda perform in aid of Holy Family Parish in Holy Family Church 7.30 pm Donations welcome.

Theatre – Sweet About Me by written and performed by Jacinta Sheerin in Droichead Arts Centre 8 pm €16/€14.

Drogheda Farmers Market – West Street 9 am – 5 pm/

Airtricity League of Ireland – Drogheda United v Cabinteely I United Park 7.45 pm.

Table Quiz – In aid of Sonairte Ecology Centre in Reddan’s, Bettystown 8 pm Table of Four €40.

Ceili –Traditional Irish Set Dancing, music by the Triskell Ceili Band in Drumshallon Forge, Ballymakenny 9 pm – 12 midnight €10.

Saturday March 16th

Drogheda Open Air Market – Bolton Square 9 am – 1 pm.

Paddle Like a Paddy – Traditional currach trips on the Boyne. From the canal lock at 11 am, 1.30 pm 3 pm Advance booking to €10.

Saturday Storytime - Irish fairytales and legends in Waterstones, Scotch Hall 11 am. 

Slane Rocks St Patrick – Live music from top acts, tours of the distillery and food stalls – Slane Castle Distillery 1 pm – 8 pm.

Allianz Football League – Louth v Westmeath in GAA Grounds Drogheda 2 pm.

The Town I Loved So Well – St Peters Male Voice Choir in Concert in Droichead Arts Centre 8 pm €20.

The Saturday Session – Traditional Irish Music Session in Barney Macs, Chord Road, 10 pm Free.

Bagatelle in Concert – Celebrating 40 years on the road, Bagatelle will be playing all their hits in the TLT Theatre 8 pm €25.

Sunday March 17th

Kiddies Fun at Scotch Hall – Inflatables and bouncy castle on the quay outside Scotch Hall Shopping Centre from 10 am – 6 pm.

St Patrick’s Day Parade – Starting at O’Raghallaigh’s Centre, North Road to the Mall, via Georges St, Fair St, Peter St, Shop St, North Quay 12 noon.

Millmount Fair – Free entry to museum & tower, craft and food stalls, archery display, face painting, short films on Old Drogheda 12 noon – 6 pm.

Traditional Session – Darragh O’hEiligh (piper) and friends in the Highlanes Gallery 2 pm.

Traditional Hooley – Music, Dancing & storytelling in Boyne Valley Cottage, Donore 3 pm – 5 pm.

Slane St Patrick’s Day Parade – Departs from Slane National School to Main Street with street entertainment at Village Garden 3.30 pm.

Monday March 18th

Traditional Session - Darragh O'hEiligh & Friends in the Grey Goose 9.30 pm.

Tuesday March 19th

Traditional Sessions – Donaghys and Carberrys 9.30 pm.

Wednesday March 20th
