In recognition of their important contribution to education for autistic children in our area, Drogheda Soroptimists held a fund raiser table quiz for Abacas Louth Meath Youth Club recently in Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club.
Drogheda ABACAS Louth & Meath Youth Club run a number of weekly youth clubs for children and teenagers with Autism and Asperger Syndrome from age 8 onwards. Their youth clubs are a casual, safe, neutral environment where children with ASD can relax and "hang out" at the weekend with their peers.
The youth clubs are a mixture of meetings in the clubhouse with regular trips to town for bowling, cinema, go karting, shopping and many other activities. They rely on donations to fund the club.
Drogheda Soroptimist President, Eleanor Cummins, said that this fundraiser and the partnership with ABACAS Louth Meath Youth Club was a priority for her year.
