Solidarity PBP to run candidate in East Meath

Front Page

Andrew Keegan.

Solidarity People Before Profit are to run Andrew Keegan as a candidate in Meath East which is the constituency of the Minister for Employment Affairs & Social Protection, Regina Doherty.

“We discussed the possibility of using the election to focus attention on the minister who has overseen the continuation of bogus self-employment. While content to state she had no wish to penalise rogue employers, guilty of evading employment and taxation responsibilities” a spokesperson said.

“The opportunity to impact her vote and send a clear message could not be missed.

We hope to use the platform of the election, as a means to bring focus on the construction industry and the tricks and subterfuge employed by those running it.

“The minister and her hands-off approach, have cost workers, public and state.  This election offers us the chance to say NO more to this Minister, Government and any future government.

“While we appreciate that many involved with the building workers campaign are not members of People Before Profit, they were the party that gave us this opportunity and that they understand and agree to our use of this platform to air our grievances against unchecked profiteering that is rampant throughout the industry.

“The aims and objectives of the building workers campaign will be placed front and center and will be our major concern throughout.

“If you are based in Meath, we ask that you consider giving Andrew your number 1 and transfer to those party's on the left committed to ending bogus self-employment and the championing of workers’ rights.”
