A man in his mid-30s was due in Drogheda District Court, sitting in Dundalk this morning charged in connection with a robbery which took place at a restaurant on Dyer Street, Drogheda on Saturday last, January 16.
Shortly before 8pm on Saturday a man entered the restaurant in Dyer Street and threatened staff, grabbed the till and fled the scene. No weapon was produced during the course of the robbery.
Gardaí on the beat in observed a man matching the description of the suspect running, stopped him and he was found to be in possession of a large amount of cash.
He was arrested and brought to Drogheda Garda Station, where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. He was later charged in connection with the robbery.
