The beautiful 15th century Barmeath Castle.
It's all happening this Sunday 28th August from 2-5 p.m. when the Clogherhead RNLI will be holding their Summer Funday in the grounds of the beautiful 15th century Barmeath Castle near Dunleer.
Why not bring a picnic (teas & coffees will be available), meet Stormy Stan, take a history tour of the extensive gardens with local historian Brian Rogers, listen to traditional Irish music group Glégheal Gáire.
There’s plenty for the kids to enjoy also with faces painting, toss the welly, enter the Barmeath maze or the glorious walled garden....all only a short drive from Clogherhead...we look forward to seeing you there!
Barmeath Castle is set in over 10 acres of historic gardens overlooking Dundalk Bay. Home to the Bellew family since the 1670s, the main design of the garden is by Thomas Wright who came to Ireland in 1745.

The grounds feature a lake, islands and a rustic rock bridge, which is typical of Wright’s work. In the walled garden, there is an extensive variety of roses, fruit trees, a summer house, herbaceous border and the vegetable plot. Plenty of ideas there for all you gardeners out there!
Events such as this raise funds so that Lifeboat volunteers can continue to save lives at sea.
