The cigarettes, branded ‘Minsk’, ‘NZ’ and ‘1,69’, which were discovered with the assistance of detector dog Bill, have an estimated retail value of over €7,600, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €6,000.

A Lithuanian woman was questioned and investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.

This seizure was part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply and sale of illegal tobacco products.

A spokesperson for Revenue said that as investigations are ongoing no further information, or details are available.
