Drogheda & District Chamber launched the 14th Annual Drogheda Business Excellence Awards at the The Highlanes Gallery on Wednesday in the presence of the Mayor, Councillor Frank Godfrey.

This year, the Awards Programme has been revamped and promises to be bigger and better as there are fourteen categories which local businesses and organisations can be considered for. A novel element of the Awards is the inclusion of a “Peoples’ Choice Award,” which involves finalists competing to secure the greatest number of on-line votes as possible using the Public Voting System.

“The Awards are based on independently judged standards and criteria that recognise best business practices and excellent customer service that clearly demonstrates to all that Drogheda is a great location to visit, work, rest and play in,” said Chamber President, Shona McManus, adding “Drogheda has shown with the Fleadh just how well we can celebrate great community and cultural events; being one of Ireland’s largest urban centres, we’ve also got many top class businesses, both large and small – and the Business Excellence Awards are there to recognise those.”

The Business Awards Programme is free to enter and is open to both Chamber Members and Non-Members operating in Drogheda and surrounding areas. Chamber President, Shona said that the awards are a great opportunity for local companies to showcase their business and with a number of new categories added this year there is something for everyone.

“It’s a special moment to get shortlisted for an award, it’s extra special to win one. I am encouraging all businesses in the area to consider putting themselves forward this year for what is a fantastic showcasing opportunity. Some businesses may also be eligible to compete in more than one category, which enhances the possibility of them winning an award,” said Shona.

The launch event in the Highlanes Gallery was attended by representatives of the sponsor companies and Chamber Members. Also in attendance were Mayor of Drogheda, Councillor Frank Godfrey; Ms. Jackie Maguire, CEO Meath Co. Council and Stephen McQuillan representing Louth Co. Council and LEO.  Drogheda Chamber thanked all the Sponsors for supporting this year’s awards, including Flogas who are Premier Sponsors.
