Remedial work at Rosevale welcomed

Front Page

Councillor Stephen McKee in Rosevale.

Rosevale is one of those Drogheda housing estates that straddles the boundary between Counties Louth and Meath.

The upkeep of part of it is the responsibility of Louth County Council and another part comprising 25 houses comes under Meath county Council’s jurisdiction. Some locals say they are forgotten about equally by both authorities.

This week there was some good news, for those living in the Meath section of the estate at least as Meath County Council has said that they will carry out extensive remedial work some of which is expected to be completed within the next month or so.

The works includes footpath repairs, road resurfacing, kerb repairs, gully cleaning, new public lighting, drainage work, new road markings and new house numbering signage.

Local Fianna Fail Councillor Stephen McKee, who has been lobbying for the improvement work on behalf of residents in Rosevale for some time welcomed the news saying:

“These works are badly needed and long overdue, and demonstrate once again what can be done when both Louth and Meath Councils work in co-operation for the common good in the South Drogheda area.

“With the support of both Councils, I will continue to deliver for residents in the area. The onus is now on Louth County Council to carry out works on their side of the County boundary and I would like to see that happen as soon as possible.
