Open Sesame - the public toilets at Clogherhead beach have been reopened.
Good Friday has brought some good news for the beach users in Clogherhead as Louth Co. Council plan to re-open the public toilets today and in time for the Easter weekend.
Clogherhead Independent Councillor Declan Power called on the Council last week to re-open the public toilets at Clogherhead beach stating that “the closure was causing great anxiety, distress and frustration for the beach users especially the elderly, those with medical conditions and pregnant women.”
“I’m delighted to report having liaised with Louth Co. Council on this matter that the Clogherhead beach toilets will be reopen today and in time for the Easter weekend” he told Drogheda Life.
“There were a number of issues surrounding the reopening but thankfully we were able to reach a satisfactory result.

“After the Easter break, we will review the situation in terms of maintenance, plumbing, etc but the important thing was to get the toilets reopened.”
“I want to thank Louth Co. Council, especially the team in Corporate and operations for their efforts in achieving this outcome. I know they were some tricky obstacles to overcome but getting the result for the beach users was highly important.”
“We all need to continue to be compliant and responsible with Covid rules and the same goes for using these toilets and would encourage that these toilets are not used as dressing rooms as the capacity will be reduced to one user per toilet” concluded Councillor Power.
