For many years Ardee man Morgan Landy has dreamt of writing and publishing a book and next Friday that dream will come true when he launches a collection of short stories titled DREAMSCAPE: Tales from the Half-Light.

“Many of the stories were written during COVID-19 lockdown. I thought I may never get an opportunity like this again to get this done,’ said Morgan.

“Before COVID-19 I was a member of writing groups in Drumshallon Forge and Boyne Valley Writers. This gave me a good foundation in the technical aspects of writing and the feedback I received from the other members proved to be invaluable.

“The book is a combination of stories and poetry mostly with a supernatural theme or some based on Irish folklore, including a thrilling tale about an Irish girl on a train journey in Spain who encounters an enigmatic stranger who at first seems charming but turns out to be her worst nightmare.

“Another tale called The Church of Alternative Services describes an American couple’s journey through the Rocky Mountains. They stop at an isolated church on their route, a decision they would come to regret.”

Morgan worked as a photographer in Drogheda in the 1970’s and 80’s having trained with Crimmins Photography in Shop Street. He travelled to Australia in the late 1980’s where he worked as a wedding photographer and returned to Ireland in the mid 90’s.

The book will be launched in The Boyne Valley Hotel, Drogheda on Friday 9th May at 8.00 p.m. All are welcome.
