Louth County Council is inviting members of the public to a drop–in consultation event on Friday 2nd December to give their views and comments on how they would like to see Dunleer Town Centre develop into the future.

Locals are encouraged to come along to Market House in Dunleer between 9.30am -5.30pm to meet with Consultants Building Design Partnership Ltd (BDP), who have been appointed by Louth County Council, to prepare a masterplan for Dunleer Town Centre.

Dunleer is one of 26 towns nationally, one in each county, which has been awarded funding to develop a town centre masterplan under the Government’s Town Centre First Policy, which aims to tackle vacancy, combat dereliction and breathe new life into our town centres creating towns that function as ‘viable, vibrant and attractive locations for people to live, work and visit’.

The non-statutory masterplan will create a vision and set out specific objectives and interventions to help re-imagine and revitalise the town centre. When completed, the plan will be used to seek funding and attract investment into the town.

Louth County Council is seeking input on the current issues facing the community.  All aspects will be considered from retail offering, community services and facilities, public/recreational space, new employment opportunities, reuse of vacant properties, tackling dereliction, heritage/tourism potential and movement around the town – walking, traffic and parking.

Dunleer Town Development Team want to ensure that all local knowledge and potential ideas from the community is captured and reflected in the objectives and interventions of the masterplan.

As part of their public consultation process, Louth County Council will also be conducting an online survey for the purposes of gathering valuable information and feedback from the public in the coming weeks.
