Niamh Lynch and her mother Caroline with the Shamrock shaped cheseboard she won in the St. Patrick's Day photo contest.
Question: What do Leo Varadkar, Michael D. Higgins, Enda Kenny and the Lynch family from Ballsgrove all have in common?
Answer: They all have personalised pieces of work created by local wood carver Terry O’Brien.
Because the St. Patrick’s celebrations had to be cancelled this year Drogheda Life ran a little competition on the Facebook page asking people to send in their photos of how they were celebrating the national day.
Out of all the pictures sent in we put 20 up and chose a winner, our favourite picture which was of five-year-old Niamh Lynch who has a lovely smile, taken by her mother Caroline.

Pictured above are Caroline and Niamh with their new cheeseboard which was presented to them yesterday at a presentation ceremony which took place on their doorstep and which complied with all the guidelines of social distancing!
We hope that the Lynches get many years of use from their unique cheeseboard which, although it may not be of great monetary value, it will always be a talking point in their home.
Who knows, in many years’ time it may appear on Antiques Roadshow and Niamh’s grandchildren may tell the story of the time St. Patrick’s Day was cancelled.
Or they might just use it as a cheese board. Enjoy!
