Outcomers Drogheda well-being workshop – LGB Supporting transgender

Front Page

Outcomers Drogheda has announced the third in their series of Free LGBTQ+ Well-Being Workshops – How LGB People Can Support Transgender Members of our Community, which will be presented by Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) - next Thursday 20th May @ 7.30pm.

The aim is to increase your knowledge and awareness of the lived experience of transgender people in Ireland, with a special focus on how the other members of the LGBTQ+ community can support and advocate for their transgender allies.

The workshop will include explanations of the language used to differentiate between sex, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation, as well as what life is like for a trans person living in Ireland. The aim of the workshop is to improve knowledge of the trans community, demystify any misunderstandings and build empathy.

Outcomers is encouraging trans people to join them to share their lived experience and asking other members of the LGBTQ+ community to join them to find out how to become supportive allies.

The workshop will be approximately 90mins in duration, which will include plenty of time for sharing of experiences and Q&A.

Registration is essential and can be done BY CLICKING HERE

In these times of isolation and uncertainty, Outcomers Drogheda are proud to be able to provide workshops like these, to help members of the LGBTQ+ community focus on their own welfare, resilience and contentment in a safe and comfortable environment.

And what’s better … all these workshops are FREE, due to the kind support of the Bank of Ireland: Begin Together Fund and The Community Foundation for Ireland.

More information about Outcomers Drogheda’s LGBTQ+ Well-Being Workshops:

This series of 6 workshops will run bi-monthly through 2021.

Each will have their own unique theme related to the well-being of the LGBTQ+ community in Ireland, & each will be facilitated by expert professionals.

Although originally envisioned to be presented in-person, these workshops will now instead be hosted over Zoom – the upside of which means they will be now more accessible to the wider, national LGBTQ+ community.

Stay tuned for more information on upcoming workshops on the Outcomers Drogheda Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.

The future workshops will be:

  • 22nd July - LGBT Parenting & Family Law Seminar with LGBT Ireland
  • 23rd Sept – LGBTQ+ Safety & Discrimination Workshop with an Garda Siochana
  • 18th Nov – LGBTQ+ People in International Protection in Ireland Workshop - with LGBT Ireland
  • Participants are welcome to join as many or as few workshops as they wish.
