Omniplex D’LUXX cinema now open in Drogheda

1920’s design and feel but with modern comforts

Ireland’s newest Omniplex D’Luxx Cinema has opened in the Boyne Shopping Centre in Drogheda. Originally planned to open in March, the new cinema finally opened its doors last Friday (3rd July) having been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The owners of the  told Drogheda Life that the Drogheda Omniplex will usher in a new era of cinema comfort and safety in Drogheda featuring the latest Laser Projection technology, Dolby Digital sound and fully electric reclining chairs to deliver a completely immersive cinematic experience.  

Director of Omniplex Cinemas, Mark Anderson, said: "While we had planned to open in March, we are delighted to finally showcase our Drogheda Omniplex D’LUXX!

“I can’t wait for movie fans to try our supremely comfortable Electric Reclining Seats and crystal clear Laser Projection. Drogheda is now a leader in cinema technology and comfort and with over two metres in legroom D’LUXX cinemas are also naturally well suited to Social Distancing.”

The new cinema pays homage to the Hollywood era with a luxury 1920’s design and feel but with modern comforts, such as premium laser projection and fully electric reclining seats as standard in all screens for the most immersive sound and viewing experience.

Omniplex re-opened seven cinemas on the 3rd of July, and will open another 6 cinemas this weekend (10th July) with a range of safety measures in place including; in-cinema seat separation, mandatory advanced ticket booking and enhanced cleaning regimes.

They have curated a selection of popular classic movies which they await the re-opening of the international release schedule.

When asked what guests can look forward to seeing this weekend, Mark answered “the one I’m most looking forward to is Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back! But we have something for everyone including Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Dirty Dancing, Despicable Me and Batman Begins”.
