New crop of young talent coming through the Drogheda & District AC ranks

Despite the fact that he has only been running competitively for less than a year, Drogheda and District AC member Louis O'Shea ran the Senior 400m final at Tullamore last Monday with a terrific personal best of 51.44 seconds.

Having put the work in during training during the Louis and stepped up to the challenge of the Senior Men's 4x400 meters relay and the Drogheda & District team went to run a very impressive 3min 29.53 secs with Louis at the forefront of the team. Louis is just one of the new crop of emerging young talent coming through the Juvenile and Junior ranks.

Nine athletes Joined over 2,000 competitors at the BioFreeze 5K which incorporated the National 5k Road Championship's in the Phoenix Park on Saturday.

First man home for D&D was Paul Woods in a nice time of 19.21. He was followed by Club captain Colin Cuffe (21.50) and first lady Eimear marron for Drogheda (21.53). Andrea Mc Ardle ran well (22.54) as did Helga Mc Donnell (23.56). Linda Cruise completed the race in 24.31 followed by Jenny Gregory (23.34), Fiona Murphy (23.52) and Amy Gregory (32.24).

Colm Reilly 1st finisher at the Oldbridge Parkrun

Four travelled to the BHAA ESB 5k Beach Sandymount Race on Wednesday 14th with Olivia Reilly first in the Ladies over 40 category in a nice time of 26 minutes 10 seconds. Gerry Mullins ran the distance in a tidy 25 minutes 52 seconds showing he hasn't lost it. Nuala Reilly completed the race in 25 minutes 58 seconds and Conor Cooney in 28.07.

Locally at the Oldbridge parkrun, Colm Reilly was the first finisher with a personal best time of 18 minutes 07 seconds, and Shane Larkin was 3rd finisher at the Ardgillan Parkrun (20:09).

In Ultrarunning, Barry O'Sullivan took part in the Wexford Marathon Club's festival of running 50k.
