The D4 & D5 bus services which will link Aston Village and Ballymakenny College to Southgate, will be up and running before the end of this year.

The National Transport Authority has confirmed to Deputy Ged Nash that the new D4 & D5 bus services which will link Aston Village and Ballymakenny College to Southgate, will be up and running before the end of this year.

Deputy Nash, who secured a commitment on this new service back in early 2019, said that he was “…delighted that the service will start before the end of the year and that funding has finally been made available for the service that will link the Grange Rath and Dublin Road estates and the Ballymakenny Road and Aston Village/Termon Abbey/Newfoundwell Road areas with the train station, for example.

“The D4 & D5 services will operate twice an hour and four services an hour on the combined route through the heart of Drogheda” he said.

“The NTA has also confirmed that the orbital 173 service will be recast as the D3 and will be integrated with the D1 & D2, and the D4 & D5 to provide greater connectivity across the town, its suburbs and with the villages of East Meath.

“In addition, my colleague Cllr. Michelle Hall and I have received a commitment on progress in terms of the 189 Bus Eireann service.

“This is all welcome progress for the area and will get people out of their cars and on to public transport.”
