Jackie Walsh of Lourdes Youth Choir.
Louth Volunteer Centre is once again seeking nominations for the Louth Volunteer Leader Awards. This person might coordinate the group, ensure volunteers are supported and generally keep the show together. They rarely take the limelight, often toiling away behind the scenes and are not often recognised for their incredible work.
This year, Louth Volunteer Centre are running the awards in collaboration with the Louth Public Participation Network (Louth PPN). This is our county’s network of community, voluntary, social inclusion and environmental organisations, working together to enhance the quality of life of our citizens.
On winning last year’s Leading Youth Volunteers 2023 award for Louth, Jackie Walsh of Lourdes Youth Choir, shared their experience of winning "I'm speechless, I've done the choir for so many years, but it's just lovely to be recognised. I know the girls and the parents in the congregation all recognise what I do, but it is nice to be to be acknowledged in a different way and especially when Dad (organist Sean Walsh) was nominated as well”.
Every Leader nominated will receive a personal thank you card and certificate and be invited to a lunch event in the Imperial Hotel in Dundalk on the 5th of November, to coincide with the 2024 International Volunteer Managers Day.

Two particularly deserving Leaders will be announced at the event, as overall winners of the Louth Volunteer Leader Awards. The two categories are: Co. Louth Volunteer Leader of the Year and Leading Young Volunteers.
Do you know someone who goes the extra mile as a Volunteer Leader? Perhaps they are the first to step up when extra responsibility is called for. Or they inspire young people in your community to give of their time to benefit others. Then please nominate them for the Louth Volunteer Leader Awards and show them that what they do is recognised, truly appreciated and celebrated!
Manager of Louth Volunteer Centre, Kayleigh Mulligan says; “Those who lead and organise volunteers are the unsung heroes behind every successful community initiative. By recognising their efforts, we acknowledge the vision, coordination, and passion it takes to unite people for a common cause, transforming collective goodwill into lasting impact”.
Nominations should be submitted through www.volunteerlouth.ie and the closing date for these is 12 noon on Friday 25th of October. If you would like any more information on the award, or simply learn more about volunteering in Louth, please get in touch.
