In a statement issued today, Louth County Council has confirmed that on 9th January 2025, it made a report to An Garda Síochána regarding missing IT equipment from its main office at the Millennium Centre, Dundalk. The missing equipment was identified as part of routine internal audit procedures.
The equipment, which was part of the normal working inventory of Louth County Council, and in stock for replacement purposes and for new employees, was unused and did not contain any personal or organisational data. There are no GDPR issues.
As the matter has been referred to An Garda Síochána, it is not appropriate to comment further, or to speculate, pending an investigation, to which the local authority will provide its full support and co-operation.
