Labour TD Ged Nash.
Drogheda TD Ged Nash has criticised the HSE for refusing to provide him with details of the number of people with Drogheda addresses who have been tested for Covid-19 and has accused them of “nobbling” his campaign for a test centre in the town.
“Time and again I have called for a Covid-19 testing centre for Drogheda” Nash said. “Thousands of locals signed an online petition to support my campaign and I have raised the matter in the Dail on a consistent basis for months now.
“I believe there is a strong case to be made for such a centre in Ireland’s largest town and I believe the numbers of people being sent for tests from the area would further justify my calls for a centre in our town.
“However, the HSE, despite my requests will not provide me with details on the number of people with Drogheda addresses who have been tested to date.

“This leads me to question the HSE’s data collection approach and I think we should all be worried if basic details such as the addresses of those who have had the test cannot be extracted from the HSE’s testing figures.
“I believe in evidence-based decision making and it could be concluded that the refusal to hand over this straightforward information to me is designed to nobble the campaign for a centre in our town.
“This information is available and it ought to be published in the interests of transparency,” Deputy Nash concluded.
