Harsh weather and a tough course brings out the best in Boyne AC's athletes

After Friday night’s highly successful Louth Star awards in which Boyne AC athletes took home numerous honours, the team were already focused on their next big challenge.

Lacing up their shoes and embracing the spirit of determination, these athletes showed that Boyne AC is more than just a club, it’s a family united by heart, hard work and the will to succeed.

In the face of harsh weather and a tough course, Boyne AC's athletes made their mark at the uneven age Louth Championships held at the Darver Centre of Excellence on Sunday.

With a course featuring a daunting hill, freezing winds, and constant rain, this race was not for the faint hearted. Yet, a large contingent of Boyne AC runners braved the elements and dug deep, showing the resilience and spirit that defines the club.

Every athlete’s effort, from newcomers to seasoned runners, was celebrated. Throughout the day, Boyne AC’s “one for all and all for one” mentality shone brightly as teammates stayed to cheer each other on, adding an extra layer of pride to each race.

For the under-9 athletes, it was a thrilling start. Stella Gow put on a brilliant performance, claiming a well-earned second place. Folasade Chloe Bello-Osagie showed fantastic speed and focus, finishing sixth, while Cormac Brodigan powered his way to a proud third place, demonstrating both grit and skill.

The under-11 age group saw Caitlin Hughes racing with strength and confidence, placing an impressive fourth. Conor Hughes and Malachy Brodigan pushed through the tough course, finishing 16th and 14th, respectively, each showing their resilience and determination.

Competing for the first time, Rhys Farrell ran with heart and promise, making a fantastic debut, while Beyla Stone gave her all in her first Louth Championship race, showing true competitive spirit. Her brother, Eben Stone, also delivered an impressive performance and this family is certainly one to watch.

Rasmus Fangeru put in a fabulous performance and was unlucky not to medal. In the U13 category, Will Gow put in a powerful effort on the challenging course. Boyne’s U15 athletes displayed both talent and teamwork, with Ciaran Garvey, Joe Bell, and Aaron McMahon racing with determination to earn team silver.

Eoin McEntee, Riley Byrne, and Jack Wills shone as they claimed team gold, each athlete showing an incredible commitment to their team.

For the older groups, Jack Garvey took second place in the U17 race with a brilliant run, while Seamus Keenan secured third, each putting in a stellar performance. Eilish Keenan wrapped up the day’s events with her incredible 2nd place in the U19 race, a true testament to her hard work and talent.

Boyne AC’s runners returned home proud and ready to face whatever their next challenge may be. This weekend’s showing reaffirmed their club’s unity, determination, and unbreakable spirit.
