Rock, blues, metal and heritage at festival in Collon

"The Rock festival Ireland has wanted for years is coming to  the Irish Military War Museum near Collon on the weekend of 28/29 of July, it shall be your playground!"

That’s the proud boast of the organisers of the “Rally Of Lugh Longarm” (R.O.L.L.) which they’re describing as “…a family-friendly rock and metal festival with a few surprises…”

The festival will see a total of 22 bands perform, starting each day at noon including International acts as well as established bands from the four corners of the country.

Due to the high calibre of artists playing, fans are travelling from all over Ireland and also from the U.K, Europe, the US and even Australia!!

The line-up has been well received by the music industry and critics with a great mixture of blues, metal and classic rock on the bill.

“We have Classic Rock to raise fists in the air” says spokesperson Alan Cooney. “The legend that is Motorhead’s Phil Campbell and his new band The Bastard Sons, the UK’s melodic rock gods (ex-Thin Lizzy Darren Wharton’s band) DARE, Samarkind just back from their successful UK tour as are Boneyard Dog whose ranks include ex-members of Rainbow, Foreigner and Whitesnake. Opening the weekend are The Truce who are definitely on a roll this year.”

“For lovers of Blues we have England’s award winning Chantel McGregor as well as the Blues Professor Pat McManus. The dual guitar King of Wishbone Ash, Martin Turner (who inspired both Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy) will play all the classics from an amazing back catalogue.

“The Metalheads are covered with the first performance ever on Irish soil of Thrash legends Coroner. From the US, bringing their energetic live set, is fans favourite Slough Feg, there is rare live showings from Darkest Era and Old Season.

“The pioneers of Celtic Metal, Waylander, will be a highlight, Celtachor with a fantastic new album, the doom musings of Death The Leveller is one to see as is the live show spectacle from Drakonis. Erosion picked up the Samildanach award for best live act and they are going from strength to strength. If you like it extreme then Indominus will sort that or thrash cool with Scimitar. Local act Black Svan return from a two year hiatus and Lugosi bring their devilish charm to the stage.

The festival also offers a diverse selection of entertainment. This will include an activity zone, army tank display, nosh pit, classic cars, vintage motorbikes, inflatable world for the kids, discounts for heritage sites, stalls galore and of course a great selection of beers (at local pub prices). What other festival provides all this?

Weekend camping packages are available making this extremely affordable for all ages. This is a family friendly music and heritage festival attracting fans from far and wide.

Given this is the only Celtic-flavoured festival that is a 30-minute drive from Dublin delivering international acts, the promoters hope in time it will rival similar festivals in the UK and Europe and continue attracting the world‘s leading artists.
