Councillor James Byrne.
Fianna Fáil Councillor James Byrne has welcomed the news that funding for a 66 unit Clúid Housing development on the Donore Road in Drogheda is to be approved by the Department of Housing.
The Department offers financial support to Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) in the form of a long term loan under the Capital Advance Leasing Facility (CALF) to assist with the financing of the construction or acquisition of units that will be provided for social housing use.
This loan facility can support up to 30% of the eligible capital cost of the project, where the units will be provided under long-term lease arrangements to local authorities for social housing use.
This will consist of 66 units (1, 2 & 3 bed apartments) and a communal facility which will be used solely by residents (older people) to promote social inclusion.

The Department is providing €5.2m for the apartments which, when completed in April 2022, will be let to people on social housing list.
