The Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre is supporting International Men’s Health Week by hosting a series of free events aimed at encouraging men to prioritise their health and well-being and to access support when they need it most.
Each year, around 13,000 men in Ireland are diagnosed with invasive cancer, with prostate, lung, and bowel cancer being the most common types. However, research shows that men are often less likely to reach out for help or speak openly about their health concerns.
“Our goal is to create a space where men feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their experiences, and accessing the support they need,” says Susanne, Cancer Support Nurse Manager at the Centre. “We want men to know they are not alone, and there is support available every step of the way.”
