Footpaths at Lourdes Hospital not fit for purpose

Front Page

The footpath atthe main entrance to the Lourdes Hospital - Cllr. Kevin Callan says it is not fit for purpose.

Deputy Mayor of Drogheda Kevin Callan has said that footpaths and road surfaces around the Lourdes Hospital are not fit for purpose and are causing issues for those who use wheelchairs, are visually impaired, push buggies or cycle.

This area outside the hospital gates and the pedestrian crossing are currently extremely worn and damaged after years of wear and tear and the matter has been brought to me by a number of people including those who have family members who use wheelchairs and have regular hospital appointments.

The Independent Councillor said that, "the issue of mobility is one I feel extremely strongly about and that is a reason I have also pushed for repainting of disabled parking spaces across the town in the past year. This issue is just as important and needs to be advanced as one of urgency".

"I am asking the Council to consider action to replace theses sections of pathway. Currently people leave and enter by this gate and catch buses on either side of the road between Boyle O'Reilly and the Moneymore Junction."
