Labour's Annie Hoey doing well in East Meath.
First-time local election candidate Annie Hoey Labour, looks set to take a seat in the Bettystown Laytown area, with over 1,000 votes estimated in the tallies.
Annie, a former president of the Union of Students of Ireland (USI), has worked closely with Drogheda Labour Senator Ged Nash on a number of issues including addressing the Oireachtas on Zero Hour Contracts.
Whilst canvassing in the East Meath area, Ms Hoey found that the electorate were most responsive to having a Labour candidate in the area again, which has been reflected in her massive vote of 1,060 in Saturday’s tallies.
‘The Red Wave is sweeping across the Bettystown Laytown area!’ quipped the candidate, who registered to stand in the area just 4 weeks before the election!
